Amtgard is a live action role play (LARP) game that participates in foam weapon combat or sometimes called boffer. Amtgard started in 1983 in Texas and has spread across all 50 states and into Canada with several games happening on U.S. military bases across the world.
Amtgard accepts everyone regardless of ability to play, some lands do have age restrictions because of how competitive their park is in their games. All minors must be accompanied by a parent until the age of 14. All minors must have a parent come and sign a waiver for the first day. At Stonehearth, we tend to judge on the following factors. Can you listen to rules and remember them? Can you take being hit and call it? Do you regulate your emotions well?
If issues arise with a minor their parent will be contacted and any code of conduct violation will be investigated and restrictions may be placed on the minor including banning from attending amtgard events for a specified period of time.
Please see attached Amtgard Youth Policy and Age of Combatants.
If you want to engage in combat there are really two different types of combat. Battle Games are medium to large games with objectives some of them are team based and some of them are every person for themselves. Some are Militia Games where there are no class abilities while others are Class Games. Class Games add armor AND class abilities found in our Rules of Play handbook.
There is also Tournament style combat, or 1v1 fights. These fights are to test your ability with a weapon.
That is ok! Several members at every park participate in Arts and Crafts contests and socialize with others. We also have individuals who will spend their times keeping the park running, and running events throughout the day. There is something for everybody!
Stonehearth, as a land of the Kingdom of Westmarch and a part of Amtgard abides by the Code of Conduct and the Westmarch Corpora. Any action taken by a player or person at an Amtgard event must follow the Code of Conduct or be subject to an investigation and possible reprimands or banning from Amtgard.
Amtgard is broken into three distinct levels on a broad scope:
Amtgard International serves as the highest level of organization of Amtgard and sets general policies and inter-kingdom matters.
Kingdom Level is the regional organization. In the case of the Kingdom of Westmarch, its boundaries are some of Nevada and all of California and Hawaii. Westmarch is presided over by the Board of Directors who handle the buisness side of things, and the Monarchy team who handles the every day parts of the game including high level code of conduct investigations. Kingdom also puts on events throughout the year between each land, awards high level awards and titles, and provides resources to the local lands.
Land Level is where Stonehearth comes in, as we are a local land situated in Rocklin, CA. Our goal as a local land is to meet weekly and provide fun filled engagement through combat, arts and crafts, and community and leadership. There are different levels of shire based on attendance and determines what level of awards and titles they can give out.
